Background
IIIT-Bengaluru and IIITB COMET Foundation
A wealth of new knowledge has been created. It is imperative that this knowledge be shared with as many young graduates in the country as possible in the shortest possible time.

Vision
We plan to train at least 500 engineers in advanced wireless technologies by 2026. The country is moving towards indigenization of 5G networks which requires tens of thousands of skilled man power.
This certificate program will help address the acute shortage of manpower in this domain.

Course Highlights
Advanced Digital Design and Embedded Programming
Introduction to 5G and Architecture Overview 5G frame structure, Indigenous 5G network architecture.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the 5G ecosystem (UE, gNB, CN).
Understand 5G protocol layers (Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3) for UE, gNB and Network functions of CN.
Explain the role of key technologies: Carrier Aggregation (CA), Dual Connectivity (DC), and Non-Standalone Architecture (NSA).
Mini Projects and Practical Assignments (Hands-on Labs and Group Projects) Like 5G Advanced O-RAN MASSIVE MIMO, course is outlined based on 3GPP standards.
AI/ML for 5G and 6G Wireless Communication
Introduction to Machine Learning:
- Overview of machine learning types: supervised, semi-supervised, unsupervised learning
- Detailed exploration of regression models
Introduction to Wireless Communication:
Python code examples on:
- Single Carrier Systems
- OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing)
- MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output)
- OTFS (Orthogonal Time Frequency Space) systems
AI/ML in Wireless Communications:
- Massive MIMO receiver design
- Modulation classification techniques
Signal Estimation and Detection using AI/ML:
- Direction of arrival (DOA) and channel estimation in Massive MIMO systems
– STO (Sample Time Offset) and CFO (Carrier Frequency Offset) estimation techniques for OFDM/OTFS systems
– MIMO/OFDM/OTFS symbol detection strategies

Evaluation Methodology

- Below first cutoff: Candidates will not receive any certificate and will be dropped from the course.
- Above first cutoff and below second cutoff: Candidates will receive a certificate for that module but will not be eligible for the next project.
- Above second cutoff: Candidates will receive a certificate for that module and will be eligible for the project.
Fee
-
- Module 1: 45,000/-, Module 2: 75,000/-, Module 3: 75,000/-.
- Each Module have a separate fee.
- Fee will be separately collected before the start of each
module.
Stipend
- Meritorious Students who qualify through the test are entitled to avail a scholarship of 15,000/- per month after successful enrollment into the program.
Remarks
- Fee will be charged per module.
- Candidate has the option to drop out any time.
- Fee won’t be refunded after payment.
- Students who clear a minimum threshold but below the qualification marks can still join the program by paying the fee, but will not be entitled to avail any scholarship. Those students who clear Module 1 are entitled to avail a scholarship during Module 2.

Selection Process

- Selection for the course is based on an offline written test at “IIITB Campus”.
