5G is the latest broadband cellular communication standard which is promoted by 3GPP and getting deployed worldwide for sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave spectrum. 5G ensures gigabits per second throughput, ultra-reliability, and latency-sensitive network with the support for massive internet of things. To achieve the above deployment use cases, this workshop will throw some in-depth light on various Layer-2 and ayer-3 protocols and algorithms that are required to maintain the 5G QoS and QoE at the user end. This workshop also deals with Open-RAN deployment and its implications for the Layer-2 and Layer-3 algorithms.

Dr. Saptarshi Chaudhuri is presently the Head of the Radio Access Network System Engineering and L1 Department of Radisys Corporation (member of Reliance Industries). 
 
Dr. Saptarshi Chaudhuri obtained his double Bachelor’s from the University of Calcutta. He obtained his Bachelor of Science with a Physics Major from the University of Calcutta and did his B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta. Later he completed his M.Tech from the same in the field of Radio/Wireless Communication. Later part of his career, he completed his Ph.D. from the International Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore. 
 
Dr. Saptarshi Chaudhuri has 26 years of extensive working experience in the Wireless Communication domain. Started working in Cellular Industry from YR 1996 onwards in GSM Base Station and worked to date in all flavors of GPRS, 3G & CDMA2000, 4G, and 5G Base Stations. Currently focused on 5G-Product Algorithm Research & Beyond, Base Station Architecture & Design. Hands-on understanding of 3GPP specifications and contributors. Have filled 130+ patents applications across multiple countries in the area  MU-MIMO, RAN / Network Slicing, NOMA, RRM, Scheduler, SON, Data-offload, D2D, Cloud RAN, LiFi with 37 Granted US Patents and 3 Granted European Patents. Have authored 18+ International peer-reviewed Conferences and Journal Papers. Holds IEEE Senior Member & Fellow of IETE position along with an Execom membership in IEEE COMSOC. He is the recipient of best Electronics Engineer 2022 from the Institution of Engineers India.
