Job Opening: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

IIITB COMET Foundation (A section 8 company) invites applications for the post of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The job description, required qualifications and other details are given below. Job description:

  • Develop the research and product development agenda of the Foundation, in consultation with the CEO, the Chairman of the Hub Governing Body IIITB COMET Foundation and PIs of the projects funded by IIITB COMET Foundation.
  • Support in evaluation of project funding proposals, and identification of projects / start-ups to be funded
  • Monitor implementation of projects / start-ups being funded, and support corrective actions where needed;
    • Establish appropriate cadence of the portfolio of projects / start-ups based on progress and evolving needs.
    • Support Research projects meet time, budget and outcome expectations. Proactively solving problems to help progress on Projects;
    • To support existing, or where appropriate develop, effective communication structures, channels to maximise the delivery of projects.
    • Report the progress on the projects to stakeholders and management against the CFP Milestones and Outcomes
    • Communicate effectively with and develop strong professional relationships with appropriate staff across the University by working with senior levels across the University with external stakeholders.
  • Support productization of developed technology through the transition of technologies to start-ups or other companies
  • Contribute to building the technical brand for the Foundation
    • To organize and run a mixed portfolio of events include priority setting events, coordination meetings, collaboration events etc.
    • To develop new content for marketing communications relevant to projects, specifically interviewing, preparing the text and collating the text into leaflets, web pages, brochures, filers, etc.
    • Support participation in standardization bodies such as TSDSI, 3GPP and other relevant standard bodies
  • Build value for the Foundation by driving patenting efforts wherever possible
  • Any other task assigned by the Chairman, HGB or the CEO of the TIH

Qualifications, experience and skills needed:

  • M.E/M. Tech/PhD in ECE/EE/CSE/IT/IN or Equivalent
  • Age 45 – 55 (preferred)
  • Good Communication Skills
  • At least 20 years’ experience in a relevant technology field, at least 15 years of which is in management of R&D. Senior management experience is preferred
  • At least 15 years’ industry experience; Relevant technical work experience in domains such as communications, semiconductor, systems engineering, automotive, or medical electronics is necessary.
